Derrida - MC

NOW HOW AM I TO SPEAK OF DERRIDA, apparently, I have to be french.

While researching online for Derrida interpreations, I stumbled across a couple of Derrida clips on Youtube.com in which he discusses several topics. In one, Derrida explains the fear of writing and how, just before falling asleep, he thinks to himself "You're crazy for writing this!" Ah, at least there's something that we can both agree on.

I found his difference/differance (an essay, by the way, that implies the two words are not pronounced differently although we are inclinded to emphasize the a) argument extremely cumbersome to get through. Derrida discusses Being and being, ideas so abstract that words aren't sufficient enough to describe them (and God, does he use a lot of words). Since différance, according to Derrida, isn't a word or a concept I feel appropriately flustered. Seriously, is he trying to blow my mind or what?

So, when I watched a video on his explanation of forgiveness and Seinfeld, I felt like there might be at least some aspect of Derrida that I might possibly understand.

True, the clip has nothing to do with his essay on Differance but seeing Derrida's perplexed reaction to her mention of the sitcom Seinfeld is pretty priceless.
