ix. 11/07

That was an interesting session the other day. Firstly, the slight befuddlement that befell many of us as to where and with whom we were to sit with was a bit humorous. But I guess that’s what you get when you cross randomly assigned numbers with English majors. Looks like Dr. Roger’s analogy, of crossing over from the left-brain activity (or maybe it was right brain—irregardless) of blogging to the right brained-ness of writing a praxis formal paper, was physically re-enacted by the vexed manner in which we assembled. But, despite all the minor lack of initial cohesiveness the over all experiment was a good practice and a nice sounding board for our own ideas about a particular filter in Chomsky.

This experiment was also a lesson in pitching a theorist’s main points/ideas to others in class, both in an equally succinct and well-elucidated manner. This lesson then, can hopefully be applied to the manner in which we are to render the presentations on the second half of theorists: concise and (hopefully) helpful. (After all, when Dr. Roger begins to claim that our last presentations were a bit too long-winded…well hell…we have a problem.)
