This past session's wrap up of BauD was helpful - he's on some powerful S.
The continued twisting of my awareness was quite tweaked by the

It has taken me a bit of time to attempt to grasp how simulacra precedes the real. I have found some assistance from another class, one that is rooted in modernity. We have been following the development of English literature through the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. One aspect of the developing thought we have explored is the movement through empiricism and reason. We discussed how these thinkers didn't buy into the idea that we, humans, really create anything. Humans, they agreed, discover - electricity, abstract art, advancements in engineering, lyposuction, 5-year ARM, etc.

I have really resisted these ideas, as I am a tad flighty and like to think of humans as creators, who draw inspiration from some other dimension and apply them accordingly. But the other night our discussion led me to, at least, grasp and internalize these neoclass ideas. What helped me was the notion of platonic form. Neo's (whoa, Neo, that has zipped right over my head), in general, believed that through the stregnthening of one's ability to reason, one would become more and more keen at identifying, discovering, forms in their environment. Whether they were searching the sky through a telescope, or crafting an essay to address the comedic attributes of flatulation, one with strong reason-cepts could discover the ideal form for their exercise. Sounds familiar.

It seems to me that BauD is applying similar principles to PoMo. Maybe he feels the forms are all out there, floating around (in the mainframe?). So, through simulacra, we have made it a habit to identify, apply, and promote these forms prior to their realization in the material realm, in real time. Just thinking. Trying to connect - out of sheer survival. We continue to improve our ability(ies) to simulate, subordinating desire for authenticity to desire for something, anything, NOW.

There is no spoon
